Ernie was an adopted E. H. rat...his father came to work in administration at ASARCO Smelter in E. Helena. Ernie joined us at East Helena Public School in the 7th or 8th grade. A quiet guy with that wonderful southern drawl (Texas, as I recall). We miss you, Ernie...rest in peace.
Ernie, Bill McKnight and Mike Stuart and Rusty MacDonald were all great friends in high school. Ernie was my roommate at MSU our freshman year. Remember Ernie's VW that we all piled in at times. Three of the five are gone but not forgotten.
